
This article aims at reflecting on teaching theories and methodologies based on the intimate relationship between the teacher’s and the researcher’s work, taking into account possible oral and written accounts at the local level. Therefore, we seek to deal with the laws 10,639/03 and 11,645/08, discussing AfroBrazilian and Indigenous History starting from a case study in Paula Cândido (old São José do Barroso), a city located around 230 kilometers from the state capital Belo Horizonte.
