Abstract

This work aims to discuss the role of Literature in the teaching of History, as a way of historical time experimentation and as a teaching methodology that stimulates the reflexive, critical and sensitive learning in students of Basic Education. We will discuss about the historical awareness of Brazilian Northeast and its importance for the construction of the cultural identity of students and the professional knowledge situated in the teacher training. To this end, we will discuss how the composition of the Pernambuco poet João Cabral de Melo Neto’s Morte e Vida Severina can be worked as a mediator of this learning as a source and/or experimen-tation of the historical time.
