Abstract

Seeking to understand how historiography has represented Ancient Egypt in textbooks, this article aims to explain, based on the study of didactic production by Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, as the author narrates and imagines the Egyptian civilization in History of Civilization. Therefore, resume the Egypt historical formation and draw a theoretical panel on how to represent images in school textbooks, followed by the analysis of Egyptian iconography in the selected book.
