
The article places the field of knowledge on the teaching of History as an object of research in the History of Historiogra-phy, inserting the production on the teaching of History as an integral part of Brazilian Historiography, investigating this field within the analysis of historici-ty. For this, it chooses as a source of re-search the articles published in the mag-azine História & Ensino, an important periodical in the field, which since 1995 has published articles almost exclusively focused on this theme. It specifically in-vestigates the uses of educator Paulo Freire’s theoretical production in the magazine, in the period from 1995 to 2020, with quantitative and qualitative analysis of Paulo Freire’s presence in the publication and consequently in the field of knowledge production in Histo-ry teaching. The results found show that despite the quantitatively shy presence of Paulo Freire at H&E, his ideas fos-tered relevant theoretical discussions for the teaching of History.
