Abstract

This article aims to reflect on racialized representations and pedagogical dimensions in the soap opera Nos Tempos do Imperador from the perspective of the field of Cultural Studies. In this sense, cultural analysis is used based on three images and some textual excerpts that accompany the scenes captured by the images in the last chapter of the soap opera, to think about the role of ethnic-racial relations in the construction of a decolonial curriculum, where teachers and students are challenged in the production of new meanings for the construction of an anti-racist education agenda, considering the premises of laws 10.639/2003 and 11.645/2008. From this contextualization, it is necessary to rethink teaching identities in contemporary times, problematizing the role of teacher training from an intercultural perspective, in which we draw attention to the denaturalization of the view, as a way of constituting new lenses to think about ethnic-racial relations beyond the school environment.
