This article aims to present the documentary corpus of an ongoing postdoctoral research that analyzes some productions of contemporary black Brazilian filmmakers,
demonstrating how they are contributing to the development of a new aesthetic and narrative field about black populations. Arguing that the films and the episode of the series analyzed are sources for teaching History that promotes a multicultural education, as advocated by bell hooks, and aligned with critical pedagogy, since it can
enable transformations on the part of students in understanding themselves and their realities.
